TATTOO AFTERCARE

Congratulations on your new tattoo! To ensure it heals well and retains its vibrant colors, please follow these care instructions carefully.

First Day

1. Remove the bandage:

  • Leave the bandage or wrap on your tattoo for at least 2-4 hours to protect the fresh wound.

  • Carefully remove the bandage and thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water.

2. Cleaning:

  • Gently wash your tattoo with lukewarm water and ph-neutral soap.

  • Use only your clean hands to gently rub the tattoo, removing any blood and ink residue.

  • Pat the area dry with a clean, soft towel (do not rub).

3. Air dry:

  • Let your tattoo air dry for about 10-15 minutes before applying any ointment.

First Week

1. Apply ointment:

  • Apply a thin layer of a recommended tattoo aftercare ointment or an unscented moisturizer (e.g., Bepanthen, Hustle Butter).

  • Repeat this 3-4 times a day or as needed to keep the tattoo moist but not over-moisturized.

2. Cleaning:

  • Continue to wash your tattoo twice daily (morning and evening) with lukewarm water and mild soap.

  • Pat it dry and let it air dry before applying the ointment.

3. Avoid direct sunlight:

  • Protect your tattoo from direct sunlight to prevent the colors from fading.

After the First Week

1. Moisturizing:

  • Continue to apply a thin layer of moisturizer until the tattoo is fully healed (about 2-4 weeks).

  • Apply the cream 1-2 times daily or whenever the tattoo feels dry.

2. Crusting and peeling:

  • It’s normal for a thin crust or peeling to occur. Never pick or scratch your tattoo.

  • Let the crust and flakes fall off naturally to avoid scarring.

General Tips:

  • Do not swim and avoid bathtubs or hot tubs until your tattoo is fully healed. Short showers are fine.

  • Wear loose-fitting clothing made of soft materials to avoid friction and irritation.

  • Avoid intense physical activities that lead to excessive sweating, especially in the first few days after getting your tattoo.

  • Only touch your tattoo with clean hands. Avoid contact with dirty surfaces or people.

Long-term Care

  • Sun protection: After healing, always apply sunscreen (at least SPF 30) to your tattoo when exposed to the sun. This protects the colors and prevents fading.

  • Regular moisturizing: Keep your tattoo and surrounding skin well-moisturized even after healing to maintain vibrant colors.

If you notice any signs of infection (excessive redness, swelling, pus), or any other unusual reactions, please contact your tattoo artist or a doctor immediately.
